General instructions for hypogly, step 1
take 15 g carbs, wait 15 min, recheck blood sugar
4 hypogly foods
4 to 6 oz of fruit juice or regular soft drink,
3 to 4 glucose tablets,
8 to 10 hard candies,
1 tbsp of honey

you rechecked the blood sugar, if it’s still not within normal limits, repeat the 15 g of carbs

If the blood sugar is now within normal range, have another snack with carbs and protein
hypogly, if client is unconscious or can’t swallow
give IM glucagon, wait 10 min,
if still unconscious
give another glucagon and tell provider
hypogly in acute care, administer
50% dextrose
