Veins Of The Brain: Deep Flashcards
Deep
Deep veins draining hemisphere deeper parts
Deep veins draining hemisphere deeper parts
- Deep middle cerebral vein
- Basal vein (right and left)
- Internal cerebral veins
- Great cerebral vein
Deep middle cerebral vein course and site
Lies in bottom of lateral fissure posterior ramus on insula surface and then runs medial
Deep medial cerebral vein end
Near anterior perforated substance by joining anterior cerebral vein to form basal vein
Basal vein formation
Formed below anterior perforated substance by union of deep middle cerebral and anterior cerebral veins
Basal vein course
Curves backwards around midbrain lateral surface reaching below corpus splenium
Internal cerebral veins site
Emerge from tela choroidea below corpus splenium
Internal cerebral veins drainage
Lateral and 3rd ventricle’s choroids plexuses
Great cerebral vein course
- Begins below corpus splenium by union of right and left internal cerebral veins and right and left basal veins
- It turns upwards behind splenium to join ISS forming straight sinus
