Inner ear development

A
  1. Develops from Otic placode which is ectodermal thickening on surface ectoderm
  2. Placode is depressed then becomes converted into Otic vesicle (otocyst) which sinks underlying mesoderm and gives rise to membranous labyrinth which consists of 2 parts:
    - vestibular part
    - cochlear par
