A
- Develops from Otic placode which is ectodermal thickening on surface ectoderm
- Placode is depressed then becomes converted into Otic vesicle (otocyst) which sinks underlying mesoderm and gives rise to membranous labyrinth which consists of 2 parts:
- vestibular part
- cochlear par
