Sulci And Gyri Of Cerebral Cortex: Lateral Surface Flashcards
Lobes (4)
- Frontal lobe
- Parietal lobe
- Temporal lobe
- Occipital lobe
Frontal lobe sulci
- Precentral sulcus
- Superior frontal sulcus
- Inferior frontal sulcus
Frontal lobe gyri
- Precentral gyrus
- Superior frontal gyrus
- Middle frontal gyrus
- Inferior frontal gyrus
Precentral sulcus
Parallel and anterior to central sulcus
Superior frontal sulcus
Begins in upper part Precentral sulcus and runs forwards parallel to upper border
Inferior frontal sulcus
Begins in lower part Precentral sulcus and runs forwards then downwards
Precentral gyrus
Between central and Precentral sulci
Superior, middle, inferior, frontal gyri
Remaining part of frontal lobe is divided into 3 gyri by superior and inferior frontal sulci
Inferior frontal gyrus
Divided by anterior ascending and anterior horizontal rami of lateral sulcus into 3 parts:
1. Orbital
2. Angular (triangular)
3. Opercular
Orbital
Below anterior horizontal ramus
Angular
Between 2 rami
Opercular
Between anterior ascending ramus and Precentral sulcus
Covers part of insula
Parietal lobe sulci
- Postcentral sulcus
- Intraparietal sulcus
Parietal lobe gyri
- Postcentral gyrus
- Superior parietal gyrus
- Inferior parietal gyrus
Postcentral sulcus
Parallel and posterior to central sulcus
