ECA above hyoid greater horn (above lingual artery)

1. Ascends on pharynx side (middle and superior constrictors which separate it from tonsil)
2. Deep to posterior belly digastric
3. Enter digastric triangle
4. Groove submandibular gland posterior border
5. Deep to mandible, it runs forwards between gland and medial pterygoid
6. Reach mandible lower border
7. Hooks around it to enter face at anteroinferior angle of Masseter to become facial part
Cervical part branches
- Tonsillar artery
- Ascending palatine artery
- Glandular artery
- Submental artery
Tonsillar artery
- Pierces superior constrictor 2. Supply superior palatine tonsil (main artery tonsil)
Ascending palatine artery
- Enters gap above superior constrictor
- Supplies pharynx, soft palate, and palatine tonsil
Glandular
To submandibular gland nearby muscles and skin
Submental artery
Largest branch
1. Passes along mandible lower border to submental triangle
2. Accompanies nerve to mylohyoid and supplies surrounding muscles
3. Anastomose with:
- mylohyoid artery
- mental artery
- inferior labial artery
- sublingual artery
