Sulci And Gyri Of Cerberal Cortex: Tentorial And Medial Surfaces Flashcards
Sulci
- Callosal sulcus
- Hippocampal sulcus
- Cingulate sulcus
- Calcarine sulcus
- Postcalcarine sulcus
- Parieto-occipital sulcus
- Collateral sulcus
- Rhinal sulcus
- Occipito-temporal sulcus
Callosal and hippocampal sulci
- Callosal begins below corpus callosum rostrum
- Arches around genu and body
- Finally bends around splenium to become continuous with hippocampal sulcus
- Hippocampal sulcus extends forwards from splenium to the bend between parahippocampal gyrus and uncus
Cingulate sulcus
- Begins below corpus callosum rostrum
- Passes above and parallel to Callosal sulcus
- Ends posterior by dividing into marginal and subparietal (suprasplenial) sulci
Calcarine sulcus
- Begins below corpus splenium
- Passes backwards and upwards to meet postcalcarine sulcus
Postcalcarine sulcus
- Begins at occipital pole
- Passes forwards and upwards to meet Calcarine sulcus
Parieto-occipital sulcus
- Begins at junction of Calcarine and Postcalcarine sulci
- Passes upwards
- Forms y shaped sulcus with Calcarine and Postcalcarine sulci
Collateral sulcus
Extends from occipital pole to temporal pole
Rhinal sulcus
Extends forwards from a point near collateral sulcus anterior end to complete uncus outline
Occipito-temporal sulcus
Interrupted sulcus lateral and parallel to collateral sulcus
Gyri
- Lingual gyrus
- Cuneus gyrus
- Precuneun gyrus
- Paracentral lobule
- Medial frontal gyrus
- Cingulate gyrus
- Parahippocampal gyrus and uncus
- Medial occipito-temporal gyrus (fusiform)
- Lateral occipito-temporal gyrus
Lingual gyrus
- Between Calcarine and posterior Calcarine sulci (superior) and collateral sulcus posterior part (inferior)
- Anterior, continuous with parahippocampal gyrus in
Cuneus
Triangular area between Postcalcarine and parieto-occipital sulci
Precuneus
Quadrilateral area between marginal sulcus (in front), parieto-occipital sulcus (behind), upper border (above), and subparietal sulcus (below)
Paracentral lobule
Quadrilateral area surrounding upper end of central sulcus on medial surface
Medial frontal gyrus
In front of Paracentral lobule
