Sulci Flashcards
1
Q
3 sulci
A
- Central (Rolando) sulcus
- Lateral (sylvius) fissure
- Parietal-occipital
2
Q
Central sulcus
A
- Runs obliquely across lateral surface
- Upper end usually cuts in superior border of hemisphere and extends a little on its medial surface
- Separates motor from sensory areas
3
Q
Lateral fissure
A
- Its stem begins on inferior surface
- Extends lateral between temporal pole and orbital surface of frontal lobe
- Reach lateral surface and divides into 3 rami
4
Q
3 rami
A
- Posterior ramus
- Anterior horizontal ramus
- Anterior ascending ramus
5
Q
Posterior ramus
A
- Longest and deepest
- Runs backwards
- Posterior end turns upwards into parietal lobe
6
Q
Anterior horizontal ramus
A
Runs forwards in frontal lobe
7
Q
Anterior ascending ramus
A
Runs upwards in frontal lobe
8
Q
Parieto-occipital
A
- Present on medial surface near occipital pole
- Upper end cuts superior border 2 inches in front of occipital pole
- Extends a little on lateral surface of hemisphere
