Ear: Vestibulocochlear Nerve Flashcards

1
Q

Vestibulocochlear nerve

A
  1. 8th cranial nerve
  2. 2 combined nerves (cochlear and vestibular) which enters brain stem in ponto-cerebellar angle
  3. It divides at internal auditory meatus into large anterior part (cochlear nerve) and small posterior part (vestibular nerve)

Q

Vestibular nerve

A

Formed by:
Central processes of bipolar cells of vestibular ganglion:
lies in internal auditory meatus bottom
2. Peripheral processes:
pass to vestibular end organs in utricle, saccule, and semicircular ducts
