- Joins IJV froming brachiocephalic vein
- It lies totally behind clavicle
- Corresponds to 2nd and 3rd parts subclavian artery

- Tested technique of quickly accessing major venous system
- Benefits include:
- rapid administration of drugs combinations
- route for nutritional support and fluid administration
- CVP is considered direct measurement about heart activity acquired by putting a central venous catheter into any of the large veins (either IJV or subclavian vein)
