  1. Runs medial in a groove on 1st rib upper surface in front of scalenus anterior till its medial border
  2. Joins IJV froming brachiocephalic vein
  3. It lies totally behind clavicle
  4. Corresponds to 2nd and 3rd parts subclavian artery

Applied anatomy: central venous catheter

A
  1. Tested technique of quickly accessing major venous system
  2. Benefits include:
    - rapid administration of drugs combinations
    - route for nutritional support and fluid administration
    - CVP is considered direct measurement about heart activity acquired by putting a central venous catheter into any of the large veins (either IJV or subclavian vein)
