Observational learning Flashcards
What is observational learning?
Bandura’s model (learning through watching)
What is the process of observational learning?
1) Demonstation is given by the coach
2) Attention, the perfumer selectively attends to the important aspects of the demonstration
3) Retention, the learning needs to remember the demonstration and retain information
4) Motor reproduction, learner must be capable of performing the skill of match the demonstation
5) Motivation, the learning ,its have drive and want to learn the skill
What is attention?
How a coach can ensure the learner is attending to the important aspects of the demonstration, use verbal guidance to direct the learners to the important aspects
Demo should be given by a role mode, who has high status same age/ ethnicity
What is retention?
How the coach ensures the learner has remembered the important aspects of the demo
repetition will ensure memory aid
use of catch phrases, asking questions to the players to ensure their understanding
What is motor reproduction?
How the coach has ensured the players can match the coaches performance;
Needs to ensure that the performer is physically and mentally able to perform and understand the skill/ asking questions again (cognitive perfomers)
What is motivation?
How does the coach know that the performer is motivated enough to learn the skill
Coach needs to use positive reinforcement and praise to encourage drive
