What are nsaids?
Non steroid inflammatory drugs
post injury- designed to take inflammation and temperature and pain away
What are the benefits of nsaids?
Inhibits chemical released after an injury, which helps to decrease over inflammation, pain receptors and temperature which increases healing process and speeds recovery
What type of nsaids can be prescribed?
Over the counter; aspirin, ibuprofen

What are the risks of nsaids?
Pain is a normal response to a trainer/ performer to prevent a performer restarting training
a decrease in pain may lead them to think injury is repaired and makes them start training too early
short term side effects; nausea, head aches, tints, diarrhoea, heart alapation, skin itching
What are the long term risks of nsaids?
Heart attacks, ulcers, stores
What addictions can nsaids have?
Performers may become addicted to nsaids, carol screaming
can overdose
What are the uses of nsaids?
normally used for acute injiruesl strained ankle or muscle bruising
or chronic injuries; ruptured ligament, tendinitis
What are the uses of aspirin?
Anti-Inflammatory agent which inhibits nerve impulses also known as pain to the brain and increases pain threshold
‘antipyretic’ inhibits toxins which decreases fever and temperature
What are the uses of ibuprofen?
OTC non steroid anti inflammatory agent which acts as analgesic/antipryeotric
What is phenylbutazone?
Anti-inflammatory agent used for chronic muscle skeletal injuries; bursitis
