Q

what is attention?

A

the performer need to be focused
be aware of cueing- the coach may highlight certain important aspects
motivation- need to be motivated
level of interest- if not interested won’t retain
the level of attractiveness of model- relevant to the person who’s learning ths
status of the model- are they respected
depends on the learners attention spam
can depend on insentives- can we use extrinsic motivation

Q

what is retention?

A

the learner must remember mental picture, must be able to have learned what they’ve seen
they can use mental rehersal, often before the practice takes place
the coach adding meaning to the demo- level of interest- similar to the Craig locks hart- why its critical more likely to learn
chunking- break things down into chunks, long term
repetition- the law of exercise

Q

what is motor reproduction?

A

the performer must have physical ability- the law of readiness
must be physical mature enough
must have mental understanding of the skill- law of readiness
demonstration must match learners capabilties- 800g javelin to 8 year olds. doesn’t match capabilities, motor reproduction is different
must have right challenge level
must have right equipment- must be available to performers to practice
must be warmed up

Q

what is motivation?

A

Must have the drive to copy
reinforcement- positive reinforcement
use feedback/insentives
increase motivation if demonstrator s of similar age/gender
the more associated the demonstatrot is the more demonstrated
vicarious reinforcement- see other people doing it
high status of the demonstrator
vicarious reinforcement can raise self efficacy- start t believe we can
