Levers Flashcards
What are the 3 factors of a lever system?
A fulcrum, resiatcne and effort
What is a fulcrum?
Point of which it pivots and tilts
what is the resistance?
Trying to move
What is the effort?
Producing the force that moves the resistance
What is the first order level system?
The fulcrum is always in the middle, doesnt matter which way the effort and resistance go.
What is an example of first order?
Elbow extension (only 1st order)
What is an example of second order?
Ankle joint (only one) gastrocnemius s the effirt
fulcrum is the tiptoes
load- body weight (could be plantar flexion)
What is the second order?
load/resitance in middle
fulcrum and effort on outside
What is the third order system example?
Everything except elbow extension and ankle joint
Bicept curl, fulcrum is elbow, effort is bixept and load is weight
What is the third order system?
effort in middle
What is the rhyme?
123 FRE Middle- fulcrum (1) resistance- middle (2) Effort (3)
What is the resistance arm?
The distance between the fulcrum and the resistance
What is the effort arm?
The distance between the fulcrum and the effort
what is the advantage of 2nd?
When the effort arm Is longer then the resiatnce arm there is an advantage to the system, you can lift heavy loads with low effort levels
What are the disdvatw of 2 level systems?
Slow speeds
