What is a goal?
An individual is trying to accomplish object/aim of an action
Why are they important?
Builds confidence- feel good about themselves/ability
encourages persistence- motivated to keep trying whenever training/performance gets tough
alleviates stress/anxiety
controls arousal- help focus on specific aspect

What are the short term goals?
process- goalkeeper works on speed/agility focus on technique rather than result

May tae an extended period of time to achieve outcome- result of a particular event be the bets goalkeeper
Wha is the smart principle?
Speicifc- what is the performer trying to accomplish
measurable- quantify results
achievable- what needs to be dome to achieve goal

What are medium term goals?
Assists in the achievement of long term and short term goals
eating a personal best time by the end of the season
What are product based goals?
defeating competitors , winning outcomes
