Anatomy B5 W3 Flashcards
Tegmentum
Anterior aspect of midbrain
Tectum
Posterior aspect of midbrain- contains the superior and inferior colliculi
Cerebral peduncles
Pyramidal tracts connecting the cortex to the brainstem
What is the internal capsule?
Lies between the caudate nuclei and lentiform nucleus. It is made up of the ascending and descending cortical tracts. Contains anterior horn, posterior horn and genu.
Which structures are present in the parietal lobe?
Post central gyrus and sulcus for the somatosensory cortex
What structures are present in the temporal lobe?
Superior, temporal and inferior gyri and a superior + inferior temporal sulcus
Supramarginal gyrus
In the parietal lobe close to the temporal for auditory processing
Angular gyrus
In the parietal lobe posteriorly for number processing and cognition
Inferior frontal gyrus
Gyrus on the inferior part of the frontal lobe. Divided into an opercular region and triangular region
Which part of the inferior frontal gyrus lies close to the Sylvian fissure?
Inferior frontal gyrus: triangular part
Sylvian fissure
Lateral sulcus separating the frontal and parietal lobe from the temporal lobe
