Ancestrals
Cocktail family, the first cocktails. spirit, sugar (can be in the form of a liqueur or syrup), bitters, water (often ice)
Americano
Ancestral. campari, sweet vermouth, soda. over ice. orange slice
Old Fashioned
Ancestral. American whiskey, 2d bitters, sugar cube. dissovle sugar in small amount of water, add whiskey bitters, stir w/ ice, pour over fresh ice.
Sazerac
Ancestral. Rye whiskey, 5d peychaud’s, splash absinthe, half sugar cube. Chill lowball w/ice, muddle sugar and a splash of water in mixing glass, Dump ice from lowball and rinse w/ absinthe, add whiskey and bitters to mixing glass, w/ lemon peel and stir w/ ice, strain into absinthe rinsed glass
pink gin
Ancestral. Plymouth Gin, bitters. Stir w/ ice strain into coupe. lemon twist (opt)

Bijou
Spirit Forward. Gin, Green Chartreuse, sweet vermouth, orange bitters. stir w/ ice, strain into coupe. twist.
Bobby Burns
Spirit Forward. Scotch, sweet vermouth, orange bitters, dash absinthe. stir w/ ice, strain into cocktail glass. twist. “scotch manhattan w/ different bitters”
Boulevardier
Spirit Forward. bourbon, sweet vermouth, campari. stir w/ ice, strain into cocktail glass. orange twist. “bourbon negroni”
Brooklyn Cocktail
Spirit Forward. Rye, dry vermouth, maraschino, amer picon bitters. stir w/ ice, strain up or on the rocks. lemon &/or orange twist.
Corpse Reviver No. 1
Spirit Forward. cognac, calvados or apple brandy, sweet Spirit Forwardvermouth. stir w/ ice, strain into chilled cocktail glass. twist
Dempsey Cocktail
Spirit Forward. gin, apple brandy, grenadine, absinthe. shake w/ ice, strain over cocktail glass
El Presidente
Spirit Forward. rum, dry vermouth, curacao, grenadine. stir w/ ice, strain into cocktail glass. orange peel

Spirit Forward. Genever, sweet vermouth, marschino, boker;s or angostura. “very wet precursor to the dry martini”
Negroni
Spirit Forward. gin sweet vermouth, campari. orange peel
Old Pal
Spirit Forward. Rye, dry vermouth, campari. “dry boulevardier variant”
Parisienne
Spirit Forward. gin, noilly prat, creme de cassis. “martini w/ cassis”
