THE MEANING SEEMS TO BE THAT EVEN FOOD THAT IS PROVIDED BY FATE ALONE STILL CANNOT BE CONSUMED WITHOUT THE EFFORT OF SPOONING IT UP TO ONE’S MOUTH - IN OTHER WORDS, ONE MUST HELP FATE/KARMA ALONG BY DOING ONE’S OWN PART, “GOD HELPS THOSE WHO HELP THEMSELVES”. THIS MAKES SENSE IN ITSELF BUT I REALLY DON’T SEE HOW WHAT THE WEAVER IS SAYING IN THESE LINES CONSTITUTES A CONTRADICTION OF WHAT HIS WIFE SAID JUST ABOVE.
