गुणदोषकथा (?)
गुणदोषकथा (?) I SUSPECT THIS IS AN INDC CPD MEANING “in accordance with (the guest’s) merits and demerits” BUT… THIS MEANING FOR ॰कथा IS [ND] AND FOR THIS MEANING ONE WOULD RATHER EXPECT ॰यथा - AND ANYWAY THE ESSENCE OF HOSPITALITY IS TO WELCOME ALL, REGARDLESS OF गुणदोष
\
OR IT COULD BE NOM. PL. M. ADJ गुणदोषकथ HERE
\
STILL, I DON’T THINK ‘possessed of tales of merit and demerit’ OR ‘discussing merits and demerits’ [JHA] MAKES MUCH SENSE HERE - BUT THAT MAY JUST BE CULTURAL IGNORANCE ON MY PART

कुतूहल n.

√तिरस्कृ = तिरस् + √कृ -karoti-
√तिरस्कृ = तिरस् (secret, hidden) + √कृ -karoti- (also rah k- ; ind.p. -kṛtya-[also raḥ kṛtvā- ] ) to set aside, remove, cover, conceal etc. ; to excel etc. ; to blame, abuse, treat disrespectfully, despise
\
THE POINT IS THAT EVEN CATS, MONKEYS, ETC. ARE ECLIPSED BY THE LEAPING OF THIS MOUSE - AND THAT IS THE AMAZING THING TO BE SEEN HERE

कस्मिंस्तत्प्रदेशे
कस्मिंस्तत्प्रदेशे SEEMS STRANGE, AS IT SHOULD MEAN “in what (place) in this place”, I.E. कस्मिं प्रदेशे तत्प्रदेशे
\
JHA [p. 319] AND HERTEL [p. 136] BOTH READ कस्मिंञ्श्चित्प्रदेशे - BUT THIS IS ALSO STRANGE SINCE कस्मिंञ्श्चित् IS AN INDEFINITE = “in some place” - AND WE ABSOLUTELY NEED AN INTERROGATIVE HERE. IT MAKES NO SENSE TO SAY, “Is it known (that?) his hole is in some place?” ALTHOUGH कश्चित् , ETC. CAN MEAN LATIN quidem = ‘a certain’, SO MAYBE “Is his hole known to be in a certain place?” THAT WOULD WORK
\
TEMPTING TO JUST READ कस्मिं प्रदेशे : “Is it known in what place his hole is?”
