General overview
[83.01] Section 83 provides that where there is a change in the percentage level of the interest of a substantial shareholder in a company, the substantial shareholder must give notice to the company stating (a) his name and address; (b) the date of the change and circumstances leading to that change; and (c) other particulars as may be prescribed, within two business days from him becoming aware of such a change. See further, ss 135 to 137G of the Securities and Futures Act (Cap 289) in respect of similar reporting requirements for substantial shareholders of listed corporations.
