What information do you need immediately if it is in progress or just occurred?
Phone #, caller information, location and situation.
How many officers should you send if it is in progress or just occurred?
Send 2 officers and let them know you are getting further information.
Should you keep the caller on the line if it is in progress or just occurred? Why?
Keep the caller on the line until an officer gets to them, be sure they are safe, and find out if they need medical attention. Continue getting information.
What other information can you give officers right away?
Find out if a weapon was used, how many people, which direction they went, a description of each, and what they took. Pass this information on to the officers as you get it
What would you do differently if it had occurred earlier (meaning it happened 30 minutes ago and they are calling from home)?
Ask the same questions. When dispatching it, send 1 officer (as long as the victim is safe and needs no medical attention). Let the officer know how long ago it happened and they are now safe.
