STUDENT PATROL Flashcards

1
Q

What emergency situations would cause us to call the cruiser drivers, & walkers, into MAC?

A

Shooting, robbery, person with a gun, tornado, ect. in our area. Anything that could be a danger to our drivers, walkers, and students. They need to park in the back of MAC and come inside. If it is a tornado, send them downstairs. If the danger is near MAC, you can have them go park with the Bradley vehicles in campustown. If they have students in the van, they can take them with them, or, if the students request it, be let out, just make them aware of the situation.

Q

In what emergency situation would you tell the drivers to immediately pull over to the side of the road wherever they are at?

A

If police are after a vehicle that is anywhere near campus, have the drivers pull over to the side of the road where they are so they will not be in the way. When the vehicle is out of the area, they can proceed.

Q

What is the procedure if the cruiser gets stuck in the snow?

A

SEE EMAIL IN SAFETY CRUISER BOOK - “HILLTOP SAFETY CRUISERS-WINTER WEATHER INSTRUCTIONS” –The driver needs to turn on the hazard lights. Notify dispatch of location. Dispatch the Command Officer to the location. Officer will determine then if another cruiser needs to come and take the passengers. Officer will also determine whether a tow is needed to get the cruiser out. If a tow is sent for, the driver may need another van to drive until it is pulled out and determined to be safe to drive. Officers can be used to transport students also. Log areas that need to be avoided due to snow.
