Q

When CAN you start a CAD call with a “W”?

A

Only when the officer calls it in and they are already there. The “W” automatically arrives the officer and puts the “Received” type as self initiative.

Q

When should you use a “T” to start a call? What should follow the “T” on the same line? What does this do?

A

Traffic stop. Ex - “T 214 1000 Elmwood/AB12345”, enter. This will automatically arrive the officer, put the address in the “Location” field, and the “/” tells it to put the license plate in the correct field.

Q

What do you have to go back and do on this call with the address? Why?

A

When the address is entered this way it does not google verify, will stay red, and will show the wrong location on the google map. You have to go back to the “Console” line and type “G”, enter, be sure the “Google Search” box says “ENTER A LOCATION” (if not, hit enter until it shows up), enter the address, scroll down to the correct address or if it is an intersection, just hit enter.

16
Q

When should dispatch use the “Received” type of PPD RADIO/PHONE?

A

For any call that we hear over PREP 1 or when city dispatch calls us to take or go to a call that we send officers to. This would also be used for a Shotspotter = Shotspotter is a program given to us to use by Peoria Police. Another would be an Alarm = if city calls to say they received an alarm from somewhere that is not Bradley related.

17
Q

Is the “Reporting Party” the person who is calling in or the person they are calling about?

A

It is always the person calling in. The person they are calling about should be in a memo

18
Q

What is a shortcut to put in a student’s information in the Reporting Party?

A

R 123456 - this will automatically fill in the students’ information.

19
Q

When using the above shortcut, why should you always check to be sure the phone # is the same as the one they used when they called in? Should you change it if it is not?

A

When you use the shortcut above, it populates the phone number the student listed with their original information. That # needs to be the # they called in on and should be changed in case we need to call them back.

20
Q

Name 3 ways can you clear the CAD screen?

A

Click on CAD in the box at the top, press Ctrl & C, & I space 0 enter.

21
Q

Name 3 ways to save information that is in gray still? What will happen to the information in gray if you do not save it?

A

Ctrl S, or a command starting with A, S, M, C. It will disappear and you have to re add it

22
Q

If you are putting mileage in a “M”, how would you do it?

A

M 211 mil/123.4

23
Q

When you put in an intersection in “Google Search” what would you NOT do that is different from putting in an address? Why?

A

You put in the streets and just hit enter, do NOT scroll down to choose the correct one. If you do, it will have the red boxes around it and that is not the correct location.

24
Q

Why is putting in University & Columbia Terrace incorrect in “Google Search”?

A

Google Search sees Terrace the same as Ave or St. You only put in “University & Columbia” and hit enter. Do not scroll down to click on that intersection.

25
Q

What will happen if you put in “Bradley and Duryea” as the location?

A

It will error out (red boxes). You can not use “and” in google. You have to use “&”.

26
Q

What do you do if you try to google verify and address and it is not pulling anything up?

A

Click on the “Console” line. Hit enter a few times. When the “Google Search” box says, “Enter A Location”, type G in the console line and hit enter. It should work.

27
Q

If you know an incident #, name 2 ways you pull it up if it is still in the most recent column? Which of those ways can you pull it up even if it is days old?

A

On the CAD screen you can click on the box with the # in it. You can also type in the console line “I 12345678” and hit enter. This 2nd one will work no matter when it was entered.

28
Q

Name 2 ways you pull up a call that an officer is currently on?

A

Type in “O 214 I” enter, or you can look on the Status screen to see what incident # the officer has listed next to their name and click on it on the CAD screen.

29
Q

When an IDA is given out, how would you determine on the CAD call who the primary officer is (who took the report)? How would you change the primary officer if it is incorrect?

A

The first officer put on a call will have a “P” be next to it. This is the primary office. To change it at time so it is correct type in “P (officer #) enter”.

30
Q

Can you clear more than one officer at a time from a call? How?

A

Yes. You can clear as many as you want using a “/” between officer #’s. “C 201/220/211 enter”.

31
Q

How can you see what buildings are left to check/secure?

A

Go to “Report”. Enter the date and click on the shift you want. Click on “Shift Log Building Most Recent”.

32
Q

By the end of a call, what do you need to make sure is in the “Call” class?

A

Whatever the actual call was for. Ask the officer if you are not sure. SO, if you put in suspicious activity at the beginning of the call and the officer tells you it is for DS or Theft, it is the dispatcher’s responsibility to change the call type to the correct one

33
Q

What if we do not have the call type in CAD that matches the officers classification?

A

If we do not have the same classification, choose which is closest. If the officer tells you it is for “Other Investigation”, which we do not have, you can leave it at “Suspicious Activity” for instance. Dispatch just needs to be sure there is a memo with the officer’s number and what the IDA is for.

34
Q

How would you search to see all of the calls we have been on to Sigma Chi?

A

Click on the “Incident” box. In the “Location” box, type “SCI” in the “Building”. Hit enter. It will pull up all calls there. You can add in dates to narrow it down.

35
Q

What is the fastest way to find an IDA?

A

Grab the clipboard and find out the date and officer. Go to “Report”, put in the date, and click on “SHIFT LOG Incident Log No Building Check”. Highlight the incident # next to the IDA and pull it up on the CAD screen.
