CALL TAKING Flashcards
What is the very first thing you do when the police phone rings?
Write down the phone number.
What are some situations where you should keep a caller on the line until the officers get there?
Anything that is occurring now or just occurred where the caller may be in danger or able to provide more information.
Why should you find out where the caller is located?
In case officers need to speak with them.
If city calls and asks us to take a call or back up an officer, what does dispatch need to do?
Ask them to hold. Get on the radio with the command officer to see if we will take this call or not.
If we do go to the call, what info do we need to get from them?
Location, caller name & #, situation, weapons, question whether or not a city car is enroute also.
Where can you find a “Call Taking Information Sheet” fast?
On the desk in the blue binder.
When should dispatch pull up the camera?
When a call comes in on either phone or radio, dispatch should always pull up a camera that shows that area. Maybe you can spot the subject they are looking for, or you can just keep an eye on things.
