ELEVATORS Flashcards
Where can you find all the information about elevators?
Your training book and in the red emergency book under “Elevators”.
Who are the main people in charge of elevators?
Cyndi Kosinski and LeRoy Neilson.
What can you do if a student drops an item down the elevator shaft?
If you get a call for an item dropped down the elevator after hours, ask the requester if they can wait for the item to be retrieved during normal business hours. If the answer is yes send LeRoy and cc Cyndi a message on the item. Also leave a message on the desk for the clerk working days so they can let Kone know when they show up. Do not call and schedule Kone to come in on items down the elevator shaft. If the person cannot wait, contact the DS
What would you do if SAC elevator is not working correctly during business hours? After hours? Why would the DS usually not agree to OT in this situation?
Call for Service during business hours - add ref# in notes. Leave a copy of the information on the desk for clerks to see if changing shifts before they get here. After hours - Because there are 2 elevators in the building, we will wait until the next day, so you can call Kone and schedule for the next business day. You do not need DS permission for no OT. Again, leave a copy of the information on the desk for clerks to see.
What would you do if UNI elevator is not working correctly during business hours? After hours? Why would the DS usually agree to OT in this situation?
Call for Service during business hours - add ref# in notes. Leave a copy of the information on the desk for clerks to see if changing shifts before they get here. After hours - get authorization for OT from DS - be sure to log this in notes as well as the ref#. Because there is only 1 elevator in the building, the DS will usually approve OT because we do have to have at least 1 elevator running. Again, leave a copy of the information on the desk for clerks to see.
What would you do if the Alumni Center elevator will not reset during business hours? After hours? What if there is a big event in there over the weekend?
Call for service during business hours - add ref# in notes - After hours - call for service for next day - we do not need OT because there is more than one elevator - log info in notes. Leave a copy of the information on the desk for clerks. You do need to check the calendar to be sure there is not a big event in there, especially on the weekends. For instance, they are having an event with 200 people. You are going to want to call the DS. With that many people, they are going to need 2 elevators.
If someone’s trapped in an elevator, who needs to be notified immediately?
BUPD (2), and OE. If they are unable to get them out in a reasonable amount of time, check with officers to see if fire needs to be notified.
What do we say when an elevator call comes in on the phone?
“Are you stuck in the elevator?”
