SILENT WITNESS Flashcards
How do Silent Witness forms come in?
They come in on email to dispatch and superior officers.
What does dispatch do when a Silent Witness comes in?
Immediately notify the Command Officer and forward a copy to them if they are not on the list of who received it.
What do we do if it is a drug or alcohol complaint inside a residence hall? (Not St James, MSC, frats or sororities)
Command Officer should evaluate the complaint and refer the matter on to the Hall Director on duty for immediate investigation.
What # do I call for the Hall Director on duty? Where can I find it?
The # is 309.370.0341. It is on the desktop list at the top right in yellow. It should also be hanging on the wall at each desk.
What should be done if hall staff are not available or not willing to respond immediately?
Send BUPD officers to investigate.
If hall staff do investigate, what do they need to do afterwards?
Call dispatch to inform them of what they found.
What does dispatch need to do if it is a concern for welfare who was previously reported and determined to be unfounded complaints?
The Command Officer should have an officer call the subject of the report and have them meet the officer somewhere other than on their residence hall floor.
What does dispatch need to do after the situation has been handled?
“Reply all”, including any officers that were involved but not included in the distribution, with the resolution and referral of hall staff if they were involved. Include the Incident # and IDA also.
