न च नीलवर्णेन कदाचिन्निजरङ्गस्त्यज्यते ।
IGNORE WHAT COMES BELOW. THE MEANING IS JUST THIS” “His native color is not ever abandoned by the blue-color”
IN OTHER WORDS, THE BLUE DYE STICKS TO HIM AND COVERS OVER HIS NATIVE COLOR
न च नीलवर्णेन कदाचिन्निजरङ्गस्त्यज्यते । ‘…and the permanent (निज) dye (रङ्ग ) [of indigo] is never abandoned by [i.e. never loses] its blue-color’ This does not seem to be very well expressed. निज means ‘innate’ – which is not really the same thing as ‘permanent’. But there it is. Perhaps it is a case of transferred/exchanged epithet? It would make better sense to say, “The blue/indigo DYE is never forsaken by its native COLOR.”
