What is a neoplasia?
Abnormal mass of tissue with disordered high cell growth that expands into other tissues. This is irreversible and can be benign or metastatic.
What is dysplasia?
Abnormal growth and development of cells to become less differentiated by losing uniformity and architectural organisation. This is reversible but can progress into a neoplasia.
Which hormone is used to induce labour?
Prostaglandin which is triggered by head pressing against cervix that causes cervical ripening and effacement and initiate uterine contractions.
What is the role of oxytocin in labour?
Maintains uterine contractions to be more dominant at the fundusand causes cervical effacement. It is released via the Ferguson reflex.
What is the role of corticosteroids in labour?
Maturation of the baby’s lungs, given typically before pre-term labour.
Which hormone augments labour?
Oxytocin which strengthens uterine contractions.
