B10 drugs Flashcards
Ramipril
ACE inhibitor given for hypertension and heart failure. Results in the increase in braykinin, which results in angioedema and dry cough. Cannot be given in pregnancy.
Amiloride
K+ sparing diruetic given for hypertension. It inhibits sodium reabsorption in the DCT, promoting Na+ and H20 loss while retaining K+ and H+.
Furosemide
Loop diuretic which inhibits Na-K-Cl reabsorption in the Loop of Henle and causes increase in prostaglandin.
Bendroflumethiazide
Thiazide diuretic which inhibits the Na-CL transporter in the DCT
Doxazosin
Alpha-1 adrenergic receptor blocker given for BPH and hypertension. Inhibited for micrutition syncope (fainting after urination) and anuria.
Spironolactone
Mineralcorticoid antagonist at the DCT to prevent aldosterone receptor with a K+ sparing effect. Cannot be given for anuria and Addison’s disease.
Indapamide
Thiazide-like diuretic which inhibits the Na-Cl transporter in the DCT which causes high levels of Ca2+. annot be given for Addison’s disease and hypercalcemia.
