542 Polygraph Flashcards
Individuals may be examined if they are believed to know right from wrong. Generally, children above the age of ten years are eligible, but in each case involving young children the final decision to examine will be made by the polygraphist.
2. Persons who are not eligible are:
a. Juveniles under the age of eighteen, unless parental consent is obtained prior to examination; and
b. Persons who have been interrogated by investigating officers cannot be examined on the same day. If a suspect, victim, or witness is being considered for a polygraph examination, investigators should not interrogate that person prior to a polygraph examination. A person after interrogation is difficult to stimulate and an inconclusive opinion usually occurs.
Pre-exams are an important part of the polygraph examinations and consist of the following:

b. Providing an explanation of the exam booklet.

:
a. Digitally recording the examination;

c. Charting and reviewing the results of the examination
