331 Burglary

Question 1

Burglary detectives shall be called out on the following incidents:

1. A burglary and another serious crime such as robbery, sex crime, etc. was also part of the crime. In these cases, the detectives from the responding units shall coordinate their efforts in the investigation of the offense.
2. Patrol has a suspect in custody being arrested for burglary (non-domestic related).
3. Anytime a supervisor believes a detective can significantly help the investigation. Prior to requesting a Burglary detective, the patrol sergeant shall arrive at the scene and assess the situation, or if they are unable to go to the scene, a thorough consultation will be conducted.

Conduct a minimum of ,….neighborhood canvasses for residences. Attempt to ascertain if they observed any suspicious behavior, if they have surveillance video, heard potential suspects, etc.;

Supplemental Reports and Arrest & Booking Reports shall be written under the original Incident Report number.
d. The patrol officer has investigative responsibility for the case through the end of the ……………….. Prior to the end of the……………………, a Supplemental Report detailing the results of the patrol officer’s investigation shall be submitted by the patrol officer assigned to the case. The officer shall contact the Burglary Unit prior to the 20th calendar day to ascertain the assigned detective to receive assistance on the case.
