If a broadcast verifying that the situation is under control is not made by the Police Emergency Communications Officer (PECO) or within a few minutes after arrival by the on-scene officer(s), the PECO shall attempt to telephone the owner/representative of the business

a. If contact is made, the PECO shall obtain a description and have the owner/representative meet the officer outside the business.
b. Officers should verify that the person contacted was in fact the owner/representative and not a possible suspect.
c. If satisfactory contact is not made, the alarm shall be considered to be legitimate and in progress.
d. Units shall remain on alert until the situation is stabilized.

If the location is not secure, or if the officer requests to check the building:

A

a. The officer shall notify the PECO to advise the alarm company and request the agent or owner to respond;
b. If a location is not secure, do not assume that it is a false alarm; and

c. If the owner or agent does not arrive within 30
minutes after notification or attempted notification by the alarm company, officers shall enter Jacksonville Municipal Ordinances (MO) 168.105 (c) “Failure of Representative to Respond within 30 Minutes” in the comments section of the MCAD screen.
