human trafficking definition
Umbrella term that includes activities in recruiting, harboring, transporting, or providing an individual for forced service or commercial sex acts using force, deception, or coercion
sex trafficking
The recruitment, harboring, transportation, providing or obtaining of a person for a commercial sex act, in which a commercial sex act is induced by force, fraud or coercion, or in which the person induced to perform such an act has not attained 18 years of age
labor trafficking
The recruitment, harboring, transportation, providing or obtaining of a person for labor services by force, fraud or coercion for the purpose of subjection to involuntary servitude, peonage, debt bondage or slavery
who is at risk
-Human trafficking affects all races, ages, and genders.
-Can affect any socioeconomic group.
-Children are often targeted due to their earning potential, with runaway and homeless youth at greatest risk.

Unstable immigration status
Language barriers
Poverty and lack of basic needs
Recent or past traumatic experiences
