How can you ID the Atlas Belt
Attached to Nylon belt is a metal tag w/a 3 digit ID#. Do NOT stamp any ID markings into metal part of belt
PSS tourly inspection: Choose the incorrect-
A. Outer flap was opened & a visual inspection conducted. The anchor hook, EXO and carabiner were checked for deformities, sharp edges and defects
B. FF Smith depressed the cam and pulled 6-8” of rope through the EXO to insure the device functioned properly
C. FF Smith pulled the rope back through the EXO leaving 8” between the EXO and anchor hook and replaced the EXO and anchor hook into the bag, ensuring the rope separation flap Velcro was secured and EXO properly positioned on top of it
D. FF Smith doubted the PSS serviceability so it was placed out-of-service
B) FF Smith depressed the cam and pulled 3-6 inches of rope through the EXO to insure the device functioned properly

Incorrect for Personal Harness
A. OOS OOD shall have Personal Harness immediately replaced by making immediate phone notification to Admin Battalion & request loaner Personal Harness
B. Soc will contact Admin Div to request loaner
C. OOD shall prepare RT-2 & make entries in Co Jrl & Office Record Jrl
D. OOD must complete SCF-2 & fwd via Ch of Cmd to Chief of Safety. Investigations stated in report is req’d by BC on duty

Incorrect for PSS OOS:
A. A replacement PSS will be delivered from the Div since they have 10 for immediate assignment should one be required.
B. While working in a Lad, you responded “Understaffed” because 2 FFs had their PSS OOS.
C. A max of 4E & 4L could be an initial response if 2 of the Eng & 2 of the Lad responded with less than 4 firefighters.
D. While working in an Eng you responded “Understaffed” because two members and the officer had their PSS OOS.
D. sect 6.15 When a Company Officer is in need of a replacement PSS, the unit where that member is working shall inform the borough dispatcher that the unit is OUT OF SERVICE until a replacement PSS is obtained from the Division Depot.
Personal Safety System bag has some discoloration on the arashield straps due to heat exposure. OOS Correct: 1. PSS Bag 2. Rope 3. EXO Descender 4. Harness A. Only #1 B. Only #1 & 2 C. Only #1,2 & 3 D. 1, 2, 3 and 4
D. If the bag (or any component of PSS) shows signs of heat exposure (discoloration,degradation, melting, charring, etc.) the entire system (PSS bag, rope, EXO, and harness) should be placed OOS

C. If PSS rope is found & discolored in spots with dark shading, the entire PSS should be placed OOS

The exterior flap of the Tear Away Flap (TAF) has replaced the outer flap of storage bag for PSS. The exterior the flap is provided w/_ reflective 3M material (color)
Orange and Silver. The interior of the flap is covered with yellow Kevlar. When deploying, pull off TAF completely to expose the hook

A. Notify R&D by phone & fax to have the rope immediately replaced
B. Entry in Co Jrl, Office Record Jrl, & RP-100 (Rope Card)
C. RT-2 which included Unit number, date, & reason rope OOS

5.1
