Evolutions Flashcards
Back stretch is defined as
Pumper reaches fire before hydrant w/FF removing enough hose to reach fire. Pumper proceeds to hydrant playing out hose w/1 FF riding on rear step clearing hose
Evolution 1
If 3 members each pull off 3 folds of hose for a backstretch, where does each FF stretch
1st FF stretches about 15’ from rig and slightly in the direction of stretch, 2nd FF directly to rear, & 3rd FF lays 3 folds slightly away from direction of stretch
Evolution 1
What shall be given priority- Supply booster water upon Officer’s orders or hooking up in-line supply line
Depending on staffing, the initial HL stretch will be controlled by either _ or _ until relieved by _.
Booster upon Officer’s orders

A. Noz C. Control
B. BU D. Door
C Evolution 1A Figure 3.
BU/Door will initially key hydrant and pull sufficient 3 1/2” hose, then mount pumper’s backstep & use signal buzzer. Control checks hydrant then maintains keyed 3 1/2” and connects 3 1/2” to 4 1/2” outlet

Evolution 1A
ILP stretch
After hydrant is deemed serviceable, which FF keys the hydrant by pulling sufficient 3 1/2” hose from bed.
Pumper reaches hydrant before fire
Hose FF (BU or Door FF depending on 4/5 FF Eng). He then mounts pumper's backstep & uses signal buzzer. Afterwards, the Control FF will maintain the key on the 3 1/2" and connect it to the 4 1/2" on the hydrant Evolution 1A
Drafting: Incorrect?
A. Connection in the suction line must be air tight
B. The strainer end should, if possible, be parallel with and well below the surface of water
C. All connections and knots of the suction assembly are made before connecting to the inlet side of the pumper
D. The preferred method of securing the suction is to tie it off to a substantial part of the pier bulkhead
D. The preferred method is to tie off to a substantial part of the pumper
Evolution 6

T/F Water relay- both pumpers will always be in volume position.
False- Standpipe ops where head pressure needs to be overcome. Supply pumper remains in Volume & Operating pumper in Pressure position Evolution 8
Idle pressure on pump pressure gauge will be equal to intake pressure from relay plus pressure the rig idles at in volume (55 psi). In most cases in relay with both rigs in volume, this number will be around _
150-175 psi (intake of relay approximately 100 psi plus volume psi 55) Evolution 8

D. 3rd arriving Eng
B Evolution 8
Relay procedure should accommodate two 2 1/2” HL without intake pressure gauge dropping below _
15 psi on Operating pumper. If below 15 psi, the Operating Pumper ECC should request Supply pumper increase throttle on PPG in 10 psi increments as needed
