How shall elevators be operated at HRFPMD
Personnel exit at least 2 floors below fire & survey layout of stairs & hallways on floor below fire. FF operating Fireman Service returns elevator to lobby, If NO Firemen service return to lobby unstaffed
If fire is on _ floor or below, stairs shall be used.
What is done w/elevators even if they are not used?

Recall elevators. 2nd Lad shall ensure all elevators recalled & searched.
NOTE: IC must ensure all elevators are recalled, searched, & controlled early in operation & prevent civilians from entering
Can the door to elevator machinery room at roof levels be used for ventilation purposes HRFPMD

What is common on NYC Housing Apts that is a valuable reference point for OV to include in size up
Apartment letters stenciled on exterior of building either on or below 1st floor window sill. If NO markings contact Local Management Office
1st Roof FF tools HRFPMD;
Roof FF shall proceed to apartment directly above fire via _ stairs (if IDLH Team up) and notify Off of conditions.
How shall Roof FF simulate pressure profile?
Halligan, Hydra Ram, & KO Curtain.
Attack Stairs; If person trapped notify Off & call for LSR.
Open apt door above fire apt & 1 window to check pressure profile. If KO curtain needed open window & deploy (close window after deploying)
1st LCC HRFPMD duties
Outside survey w/OV,
Deliver LSR to fl above if Roof FF called for it (unless w/in reach of AL/TL/PL),
If NO Outside ops- team up w/2nd LCC & proceed to Roof ensuring stairway bulkhead NOT vented prior to control of fire. Check conditions on top floor & all stairways leading to roof

Evacuation stairs
Ensure elevators recalled & head to fire floor via Attack stairs. Maintain Evacuation Stairway closed & initiate search of hallway on fire floor

Generally, who shall be used to conduct searches of stairways & hallways when reports indicate severe smoke above fire sector. They are assigned specific stairs & floors, & advised of ID of SAE Group Supervisor responsible for all searches on upper floors HRFPMD

4th Lad Duties HRFPMD
Usually assist/initiate searches on upper flrs & stairs as determined by IC. Specific stair & floor assignment given along w/ID of SAE Group Supervisor responsible for searches on upper flrs (similar to 3rd Truck)
Ventilation Support Group will be HRFPMD
6th Ladder on 10-77. Arrives w/2nd piece of apparatus & report to IC w/2 PPV fans
Priority Order for PPV fans HRFPMD
Who shall be utilized to assist in receiving &/or recording info of calls from occupants on floor above
Pressurize Attack Stairs, Evacuation stairs, & public hallways
3rd or 4th ECC
When shall a second 3 1/2” line be stretched to supply siamese HRFPMD
More than 1 line to be used from standpipe,
Indications system NOT receiving enough water volume or pressure,
No flow registered on flow meter indicates a valve is closed in system (riser control valve)
2nd or 3rd Supply line shall be connected to a lower floor standpipe outlet if HRFPMD
Riser control valve stuck between Siamese & riser,
RCV &/or Post Indicator Valve is shut down & cannot be opened/located,
Leak in piping system below grade allowing water to drain off (may need to shut down RCV or PIV),
Foreign matter in inlets, &
Anytime Siamese supplied & not enough water pressure
Standpipe kit shall include “GNC SOAP”

If you decide to breach a wall to attack a duplex apartment fire, where shall the breach be made HRFPMD

It is usually not necessary to force apartment doors on fire floor other than fire apt door. When main body of fire has been controlled adjoining apts can be forced for reasons such as _ HRFPMD

A. Usually stretched from 2 floors below fire
B. 3rd Eng Off. This HL should be charged at stairway door to fire floor depending on hallway conditions & size of fire area

Can windows in public hallways & stairways in HRFPMD be vented
Not without permission of IC- may make control of flow paths more difficult

Incorrect for terraces & balconies
A. Members shall request permission from Lad Off operating within fire apt prior to venting or entry
B. If fire window faces onto a balcony or terrace, HRN stream may be deployed from adj window on floor below
C. If fire window faces onto a balcony, HRN cannot be operated from apt directly below
D. Deployment of WCD will not be possible from a fl above if that apt itself has a balcony, & fire window is below this balcony
C HRN could be operated from balcony railing deflecting the stream off the underside of the balcony directly above the fire apt with limited success
Incorrect HRFPMD with scissor stairs?
A: 1st Lad inside team examined the flr below the reported fire floor to determine fire apartment location, stairway locations and type, correct labeling of scissors stairs, etc.
B: The 1st arriving roof firefighter shall notify the IC of the conditions in the public hall on the floor above the fire.
C: Bulkheads of elevator machinery rooms shall not be used for ventilation purposes until the fire is under control.
D: The 3rd arriving roof firefighter shall proceed to the apartment directly above the fire with a KO Curtain.
A. Sect 6.3.1.A.1 - Take the elevator to at least 2 flrs below reported fire flr & examine THIS FLOOR (due to scissor stairs) to determine fire apartment location, stairway locations and type, correct labeling of scissors stairs, etc
