Under NO Circumstances shall valves be operated w/o prior consultation w/Con Ed personnel. Partial Closures of valves may be permitted after consultation. Under NO Circumstances will full closure be permitted

If ETA of Emergency crew s more than 30 minutes, an Engine company may _

1 FF at scene & unit shall return to qtrs
If 1 FF at scene, Off shall contact Dispatcher to re-notify Utility Co, & Use traffic cones & tape w/Unit IS
Can members pull off covers of electrical manholes
Only under certain circumstances at gas emergencies. Should NOT pull at manhole fires or if fire in manhole area. Do NOT pull square/rectangular electrical manhole covers
What is the difference between removing a round electrical cover & a sewer cover for manholes
Round Electric- Chief & Con Ed approval req’d;
Sewer- Chief approval only
Greatest hazard in Transformer Vaults; Primary Consideration
Can FD members enter Con Ed Transformer Vaults
Amount of electricity;
Safety of Civilians & fire personnel
Members are NOT to enter until Con Ed has made their examination. Con Ed determines if vault is safe for entry
