What do FD Units do if they encounter an active shooter
Immediately withdraw area, seek cover, provide physical description of shooter (clothing, type of weapon, # of shooters). Use distance & shielding. Do NOT operate unless extreme threat to life exists

Do NOT don SCBA facepiece unless there are indications of respiratory danger. Do not approach a suspect’s remains or explosives still on scene. One of the victims may be the suspect

A: Approach all explosions as deliberate. FD members assigned to a SA should not conduct a thorough search of the area for suspicious objects or secondary devices
B: Units were staged for a two sided approach in the event the device detonates.
C: After the device detonates, plain language was used on the department radio with the mixer on.
D: HT & cell phones were not used within 150 ft of the device. Apparatus, post radio and mobile radios were not used were not used within 300 ft of the device. Isolation zones surrounding the device would generally exceed 300’
