Origin: Tympanic part of temporal bone

Insertion: Soft palate caudal to pterygoid bone

Action: Raises caudal part of soft palate

Transverse direction by epihyoid

Origin: From cartilagenous part of auditory tube (tuba auditiva)

Insertion: Pterygoid bone, medially on soft palate
