Practical topic 14 Flashcards
n. medianus, n. ulnaris, n. radialis, n. musculocutaneus, a. brachialis till the elbow joint
N. medianus
Where does it arise from?
C8 and T1 (T2) spinal nerves, by common trunk with n. ulnaris (cranial division)
N. medianus
Where does it run
- Runs next to a. brachialis → a. mediana
- Runs towards the antebrachium
N. medianus
From what nerve does it recive branches from?
Receives branch from n. musculocutaneous
N. medianus
Which muscles does it innervate?
Most flexor muscles of carpus and digits
N. ulnaris
Where does it arise from?
C8 and T1 (T2) spinal nerves, by common trunk with n. mediana (caudal division)
N. ulnaris
Where does it run?
- Run caudally of n. musculocutaneous and n. medianus
- Crosses elbow caudal to medial epicondyle of the humerus (epicondylus medialis humeri)
N. ulnaris
Which branches does it give off?
Gives off caudal cutaneous antebrachial nerve near the middle arm
N. ulnaris
Which muscles does it innervate?
- M. flexor carpi ulnaris
- M. flexor digitalis superficialis
- M. flexor digitalis profundus
(flexors of digit IV and V)
N. radialis
Where does it arise from?
C7-T1(2) spinal nerves
N. radialis
What type of nerve?
Motor nerve
N. radialis
Where does it run?
Runs caudally to a. brachialis (along with n. mediana and n. ulnaris) → enters space between m. triceps brachii and humerus (distal to m. teres major)
Runs on m. brachialis (follows sulcus brachialis), goes over lateral side
N. radialis
Which branches does it divide into?
- N. radialis profundus
- N. radialis superficialis
- Runs along with v. cephalica
N. radialis
Which muscles does it innervate?
- All extensors of the elbow (m. triceps brachii)
- Carpal and phalangeal extensors
N. musculocutaneous
Where does it arise from?
C7-C8 spinal nerves (car, eq)
N. musculocutaneous
What type of nerve?
Sensory nerve
