A

Origin: From corpus of os ilium (area m. Recti femoris medialis et lateralis).

Insertion:

  • Tuberositas tibia
  • Crista tibia
  • Patella:
    • Patellar ligament on tibial tuberosity

Action:

  • Flexor of hip
  • Extends the stifle

Innervation:

  • N. Femoralis
  • N. ischiadicus

Blood supply:

  • A. circumflexa femoris lateralis
  • A. circumflexa ilium superficialis

A

Origin: Proximal part of labium laterale on femur (craniolateral)

Insertion:

  • Tuberositas tibia
  • Crista tibia
  • Patella:
    • Patellar ligament on tibial tuberosity

Action: Extensor stifle

Innervation:

  • N. Femoralis
  • N. ischiadicus

Blood supply:

  • A. circumflexa femoris lateralis
  • A. circumflexa ilium profunda

A

Origin: Proximal part of labium laterale on femur (cranial surface)

Insertion:

  • N. ischiadicus

Origin: Medial side of the proximal end of the cranial surface of femur (craniomedial)

Insertion:

  • Tuberositas tibia
  • Crista tibia
  • Patella:
    • Patellar ligament on tibial tuberosity

Action: Flexes stifle

  • N. Femoralis
  • N. ischiadicus

Blood supply:

  • A. circumflexa femoris lateralis
  • A. circumflexa ilium profunda

Origin: The popliteal fossa on the lateral condyle of the femur

Insertion: The proximal third of the caudomedial border of the tibia

Action: To rotate the leg medially and flex the stifle, in ca also to pronate the crus
