M. nasolabialis (m. levator nasolabialis)

A

Origin:

  • Frontal region between the orbit: nasolateral fasciae
  • Medial palpebral ligament
  • Maxillary bone

Insertion:

  • Edge of the superior lip
  • On the nares (nostrils)

Action:

  • Dilates nostrils
  • Raise/levitate upper lip

Innervation:

  • N. auricopalpebralis (ex. n. facialis (cranial nerve VIII))
