Practical topic 28 Flashcards
What is the inguinal canal passageway for in dogs?
- Male dogs:
- Spermatic cord (inside tunica vaginalis). Through channel towards scrotum to reach testicles
- Female dogs:
- Processus vaginalis (inside fat and lig. teres)
- In both genders:
- A. pudenda externa
What is the “virtual” space between muscles (which leads from one opening to the other) called?
Spatium inguinale
What is the superficial inguinal ring composed of?
- Lateral crus:
- M. obliquus externus abdominalis
- Medial crus:
- M. obliquus externus abdominalis
What is the deep inguinal ring composed of?
- Inguinal ligament
- Caudal
- M. rectus abdominis
- Medial
- M. obliquus internus abdominis
- Cranial
A. profunda femoris
Ex?
Ex. a. iliaca externa
A. profunda femoris
Gives off?
- Tr. pudendoepigastrica
- A. pudenda externa (through the inguinal canal)
- A. epigastrica caudalis superficialis
- A. epigastrica caudalis (caudal part of m. rectus abdominalis, and ventral part of abdominal muscles) (Exit the abdomen through the inguinal canal
- A. labialis/scrotalis ventralis
- Continues as: a. circumflexa femoris medialis
- A. pudenda externa (through the inguinal canal)
Lnn. inguinalis superficialis
Localization in females
Cranial to vaginal process/tunic, underneath inguinal mammary glands
Lnn. inguinalis superficialis
Localization in males
Embedded in fat between abdominal wall and medial surface of thigh, just dorsal to penis (at the level of bulbus penis)
N. genitofemoralis
Arises from?
L3 and L4
(leaves abdomen through canalis inguinalis)
N. genitofemorals
Give the brancehs and what they supply
- Femoral branches
- Skin of proximal, medial thigh
- Genital branches:
- Skin of pudendal region
- Male:
- Runs with spermatic fascia, gives off branches of m. cremasterica
- Female:
- Runs with vaginal process, gives off branches to inguinal mammary gland
