Chapter 1 – Tammy Has a Dream
Eu tive um sonho tão estranho ontem a noite.
I had the strangest dream last night.

Please tell us about it.
Eu não disse que foi um pesadelo, Firepop, mas foi estranho.
I didn’t say it was a nightmare, Firepop, but it was weird.
Eu estava sentada sob uma árvore lendo o livro “Alice no País das Maravilhas” quando senti meus olhos ficarem cansados e então eu acho que cai no sono.
I was sitting under a tree reading the book “Alice in Wonderland” when I felt my eyelids getting a little heavy, and then I think I fell asleep.
O que você quer dizer com ACHA que caiu no sono.
What do you mean you THINK you fell asleep?
Bem, eu realmente não sei o que pensar disto.
Well, I really don’t know what to make of it.
Tudo parecia tão real. No entanto, estava tudo tão confuso.
It all seemed so real. Yet everything was so mixed up

I really couldn’t make heads or tales of anything that was going on.

It’s really not supposed to make much sense.

Well, that stands to the reason. You were reading “Alice in Wonderland” written by Lewis Carroll.

You must have gotten so caught up in the book that, when you fell asleep, you mixed your dream with reality.

While I was sitting there under the tree, I saw a rabbit running past me, looking at a large pocket watch and shouting…
Estou atrasado, estou atrasado, estou atrasado para um importante encontro.
I’m late, I’m late, I’m late for an important date.
Eu estava tão curiosa que segui o pequeno coelho e o vi correndo para dentro de um buraco no tronco de uma árvore.
Iwas so curious that I followed the little rabbit, and saw him run into the hollow of a tree.
Não me diga que você o seguiu para dentro do buraco também.
Don’t tell me you followed him into the hollow, too.
Ah! Isto é impossível! Você está inventando tudo isso!
Come on! That’s impossible! You’re making it all up!

Quando finalmente cheguei ao fundo do túnel, eu meio que escorreguei para o chão.
When I finally reached the bottom of the tunnel, I just sort of slid to the floor.
Lá eu viu o Coelho Branco de novo, desaparecendo através de uma pequena porta.
There I saw the White Rabbit again disappearing through a tiny little door.
A porta era muito pequena para eu passar, mas então eu vi uma garrafa onde estava escrito “beba-me” em cima de uma mesa que simplesmente apareceu do nada.
The door was too small for me to go through, but then I saw a bottle marked “drink me” sitting on a table that just appeared out of nowhere.
Então eu bebi o conteúdo da garrafa.
So I drank the contents of the bottle…
Todo tipo de coisas boas: Limão, morango, menta… Pensando bem, o sabor ficava mudando.
All kinds of good things: Lemon, strawberry, mint… Come to think of it, the taste kept on changing.

What did it taste like?
De qualquer maneira, depois de beber tudo que tinha na garrafa, comecei a encolher, encolher, encolher…
Anyway, after I drank all the contents of the bottle, I started to shrink, shrink, shrink…
E logo eu estava exatamente do tamanho certo para passar pela porta; então tentei abri-la e descobri que estava trancada.
And soon I was just the right size to fit through the door; so I tried to open it and found that it was locked.
Eu olhei para cima e, imaginem só, lá estava uma pequena chave sobre a mesa enorme que eu tinha acabado de deixar.
I looked up, and lo and behold, there was a little key lying on the huge table I had just left.
Oh, não! A esta altura, você estava pequena demais para alcançar o topo da mesa, certo?
Oh, no! By now, you were too small to reach the top of the table; right?
Certo. Mas então eu vi um biscoito no qual também estava escrito “coma-me”.
Right. But then I saw a cookie that was also marked “eat me”.
De fato, eu comi o biscoito e comecei a crescer.
Sure enough, I ate the cookie and started growing.
Eu cresci tanto que minha cabeça bateu no teto.
I grew so much that my head hit the ceiling
E daí, você pegou a chave?
So, did you get the key?
E ia pegar, mas quando eu estava quase pegando, apareceu um ratinho, pegou a chave e tentou desaparecer com ela.
I was going to, but just when I was about to pick it up, along came a little mouse, grabbed the key and tried to make off with it.
Isto é ridículo! Então você deixou o ratinho escapar com a chave?
That’s ridiculous! So did you let the little mouse get away with the key?
Eu aposto que sim! Você morre de medo de ratos!
I bet you did! You’re scared to death of mice!
Não, neste sonho eu não tinha medo!
Not in this dream I wasn’t!
Eu peguei o ratinho, segurei ele perto de meu rosto e exigi que ele me desse a chave de volta!
I picked up the little mouse, held him close to my face, and demanded that he give the key back to me!
Ele estava gritando algo de volta pra mim, mas ele era tão pequeno que eu não consegui entender o que ele estava falando.
He was yelling something back at me, but he was so little I couldn’t make out what he was saying.
E daí o que aconteceu?
Then what happened?
Bem, então eu comecei a chorar.
Well, then I began to cry.
E minhas enormes lágrimas começaram a inundar o quarto até que tudo estivesse sob água e eu acabei flutuando e descendo um rio de água salgada de lágrimas.
And my huge tear drops started flooding the room until everything was underwater, and I found myself floating down a river of salty tear water.
Esta história está cada vez mais maluca.
This story is getting crazier and crazier.
Não terminou ainda!
It’s not over yet!
Depois que alcancei a margem, eu me dediquei a achar o Pequeno Coelho.
After I reached the shore, I set off on a quest to find the White Rabbit.
Capítulo 3 – “Amigos” Esquisitos
Chapter 3 – Weird “Friends”
Eu encontrei todo tipo de estranhas criaturas falantes pelo caminho, mas ninguém podia me ajudar a encontrá-lo.
I met all kinds of strange talking creatures along the way, but no one could help me find him.
Finalmente, encontrei um pequeno e engraçado par de irmãos gordinhos chamados de Tweedledum e Tweedledee que queriam me contar todo tipo de histórias estranhas.
Finally, I met a funny little pair of chubby brothers named Tweedledum and Tweedledee, who wanted to tell me all kinds of strange stories.
Cada um deles, por sua vez, me contou onde eu estava e onde poderia encontra o Coelho Branco, mas as histórias deles não batiam.
They each, in turn, told me where I was and where I could find the White Rabbit, but their stories didn’t quite match up.
Então, assim que tive uma chance, eu escapei deles de fininho e acabei num jardim de flores falantes.
So as soon as I got a chance, I sneaked away from them and ended up in a garden of talking flowers.
Você viu a rosa do Pequeno Príncipe lá?
Did you see the Little Prince’s rose there?
Não, mas eu viu muitas outras flores falantes.
No, but I saw a bunch of other talking flowers.
A princípio elas foram grossas comigo e disseram que não gostavam que eu estivesse xeretando no jardim delas;
At first they were rude to me and said they didn’t like me nosing around their garden;
Mas logo todas chegaram à conclusão de que eu era uma flor que acabara de mudar para aquela vizinhança.
But soon they all came to the conclusion that I was a flower that had just moved into their neighborhood.
Sentia-me tão só e assustada e queria tanto fazer alguns amigos nesse novo mundo estranho, então fiz o melhor que pude para me entrosar e fazê-las pensar que eu era uma flor também.
I felt so lonely and scared, and I wanted so much to make some friends in this strange new world, so I did my best to mix in and make them think I was a flower, too.
Mas isto não deu certo e, depois de um tempo, elas me confundiram com uma erva daninha e tentaram me arrancar do jardim antes que eu pudesse, como elas disseram, “criar raízes”.
But that didn’t work out, and, after a while, they mistook me for a weed, and tried to drive me out of their garden before I could, as they said, “take root”.
Eu tentei convencê-las de que eu não era uma erva daninha, mas elas não me deram ouvidos.
I tried to convince them that I wasn’t a weed, but they wouldn’t hear me.
E, quando vi que as coisas estavam esquentando, decidi que era hora de sair de lá e continuar minha viagem.
And when I saw that things were getting a little heated, I decided that it was time to move on.
Logo cheguei até um grande cogumelo e me sentei nele para descansar um pouco, quando, para grande surpresa minha, uma lagarta veio e me disse para eu ir mais para lá para que ele pudesse se sentar ao meu lado.
I soon came to a large mushroom and sat on it to take a little rest, when, to my great surprise, a caterpillar came along and told me to move over so he could sit down beside me.
Ela foi meio mal educado no começo e ficava me perguntando: “Quem é você?”
He was rather rude at first and kept asking me, “Who are you?”
Por alguma razão, eu tive que pensar e considerar aquela pergunta por um pouco de tempo antes de responder.
For some reason, I had to mull that question over for a while before answering.
Eu estava tão confusa com tudo que estava acontecendo.
I was so confused with all that was going on.
Depois de um tempo, percebi que a lagarta estava ficando um pouco impaciente comigo, então decidi que era hora de continuar minha jornada pelo País das Maravilhas.
After a while, I could see that the caterpillar was getting a little impatient with me, so I decided it was time to continue my journey through Wonderland.
Capítulo 4 – O Gato de Cheshire
e O Chá Maluco
Chapter 4 – The Cheshire Cat
and The Mad Tea Party
Depois disto encontrei o gato de Cheshire.
After that, I ran into the Cheshire Cat.
Por que ele é chamado de gato de Cheshire?
Why is he called a Cheshire cat?
Gato de Cheshire? Quem é este?
Cheshire cat? Who´s that?
Ele era um estranho gato com um grande sorriso em sua cara.
He was a strange cat with a huge grin on his face.
Eu acho que deram-lhe o nome do condado de onde veio Lewis Carroll, Cheshire.
I think he was named after Lewis Carroll’s home county, Cheshire.
Oh, entendi!
Oh, I see!
O gato era a criatura mais estranha que eu vi no País das Maravilhas.
The cat was the strangest creature I saw in Wonderland.
Ele podia aparecer e desaparecer quando quisesse.
He could appear and disappear at will.
Às vezes, tudo que eu podia ver era o sorriso dele.
Sometimes, all I could see was his smile.
Muitas vezes já vi um gato sem um sorriso; mas um sorriso sem um gato?
I’ve often seen a cat without a grin; but a grin without a cat?
Foi a coisa mais curiosa que eu já vi na vida!
It was the most curious thing I had ever seen in my life!
De qualquer maneira, eu lhe perguntei sobre o Coelho Branco e ele me apontou para o caminho que levava até o Chapeleiro Louco e a Lebre de Março.
Anyway, I asked him about the White Rabbit, and he pointed me to a path that led to the Mad Hatter and the March Hare.

Who are they?
Logo você vai descobrir.
You’ll soon find out.
O gato disse que eles talvez pudessem me ajudar a achar o Coelho Branco;
The cat said they might be able to help me find the White Rabbit;
Mas antes de me mandar embora para encontrá-los, ele me avisou que os dois eram malucos. Então eu disse…
But before sending me off to meet them, he warned me that they were both mad. So I said…
Todos somos malucos por aqui.
We’re all mad here.
Mas eu não quero estar no meio de pessoas malucas.
But I don’t want to be among mad people.
Você não pode fazer nada.
Oh, you can’t help that.
I don’t know if you noticed, but I’m not all there, either.
Não sei se você percebeu, mas eu também não sou totalmente normal.
Com isto ele desapareceu.
With that he disappeared.
Então eu segui pelo caminho que me levou até o jardim da Lebre de Março, que estava celebrando seu “desaniversário” com o Chapeleiro Louco e o Arganaz.
So I followed the path which led me to the garden of the March Hare who was celebrating his “unbirthday” with the Mad Hatter and the Doormouse.
Uma festa de desaniversário! Essa é boa!
An unbirthday party! That’s a good one!
A gente pode ter uma festa dessas todos os dias!
We can have one of those every day!
Exceto no seu aniversário.
Except on your birthday.
Seus novos conhecidos foram legais com você?
Were your new acquaintances nice to you?
Nem um pouco.
Not at all.
Eu não os levei muito a sério, no entanto, porque os três ficavam o tempo todo discutindo e fazendo as pazes de novo.
I didn’t take them too seriously, though, because the three of them were constantly bickering and then making up again.
A princípio, eles acharam que eu estava interrompendo a festa (ou chá ) deles e me disseram que não gostavam de pessoas xeretando na parte deles da floresta.
At first, they thought I was interrupting their tea party,10 and told me they didn’t like people nosing around their part of the forest.
O pobre Arganaz estava sempre cochilando e seus “amigos” (se é que se pode chamá-los de amigos) o usavam como almofada, enquanto ele dormia.
The poor Doormouse was always nodding off, and his “friends” (if you can call them that) were using him, as he slept, as a cushion.
Eles eram verdadeiramente malucos, como o gato de Cheshire me disse.
They were truly mad, as the Cheshire cat told me.
Mais para o fim, eles acabaram me aceitando e me ofereceram um pouco de chá.
Towards the end, they finally accepted me there and offered me some tea.
E ele começou a reclamar e falar mal dela e me contar como ela era desagradável, e que ela tinha “matado o tempo”, e era por isto que eles estavam para sempre parados às 6 horas (que é a hora do chá no País das Maravilhas).
And he started mouthing off about her and telling me what a nasty person she was, and that she had “killed time”, and that was why they were forever stuck at 6 o’clock (which is tea time in Wonderland).
O Chapeleiro Louco se abriu comigo e me disse que ele estava, bem, … bravo com a rainha.
The Mad Hatter opened up to me and told me that he was, well… mad (in this case, I mean angry) at the queen.
Capítulo 5 – Tammy Fica Farta do País das Maravilhas
Chapter 5 – Tammy Has Enough of Wonderland
De que rainha ele estava falando?
What queen was he talking about?
Bem, ele a chamou de Rainha de Copas e disse que o Coelho Branco, provavelmente, estaria no cortejo dela.
Well, he called her the Queen of Hearts, and he said that the White Rabbit would probably be at her procession.
Depois do chá, deixei a festa do Chapeleiro Louco e fui procurar a rainha e o Coelho Branco.
After tea, I left the Mad Hatter’s tea party and went looking for the queen and the White Rabbit.
Oh, não! O tempo está acabando!
Vamos, vocês duas, apressem-se.
Oh, no! Time is running out! Come on, you two, get a move on!
Acabei num jardim labirinto feito de cercas vivas onde encontrei três cartas vivas que estavam pintando as rosas brancas de uma roseira.
I eventually found myself in a hedge maze garden where I came upon three live playing cards who were painting the white roses on a rose tree.
Elas estavam pintando as rosas de vermelho. Ouvi uma delas dizer…
They were painting the roses red. I heard one of them say…
Nós temos que terminar antes que a rainha
chegue aqui.
You need to finish before the queen gets here.
Vocês sabem como ela odeia rosas brancas!
You know how she hates white roses!
Elas estavam pintando o mais rápido que podiam;
They were painting as fast as they could;
Mas, infelizmente, uma delas derramou um pouco de tinta no chão e estava desesperadamente tentando limpar com um esfregão quando ouvimos uma trombeta soar e um voz dizer…
But, unfortunately, one of them spilled some paint on the ground and was frantically trying to mop it up when we heard a trumpet blow and a voice call…
Coelho: Abram alas para a
Rainha de Copas.
Rabbit: Make way for the
Queen of Hearts.
Então do meio dos arbustos saiu um grande cortejo.
Then out of the bushes came a great procession.
E quem era o tocador real de trombetas para a rainha de aparência irritada, senão o Coelho Branco em pessoa, todo bem vestido e com aparência muito boa.
And who should be the royal trumpeter for the cross-looking Queen but the White Rabbit himself, all dressed up and looking fine.
Quando a rainha viu a tinta vermelha no chão, ela exigiu saber quem tinha plantado uma roseira branca.
When the queen saw the red paint on the ground, she demanded to know who had planted a white rose bush.
Nenhuma das cartas admitiu que foram elas, mas prometeram compensar o erro continuando a pintar todas as rosas brancas de vermelho;
None of the three playing cards owned up to it but they promised to make up for the mistake by continuing to paint all the white roses red;
Mas ela nem quis saber e gritou:
She would not hear of it and yelled:
Cortem a cabeça delas!
Off with all their heads!
Oh, isto é terrível!
Oh, that’s terrible!
O que aconteceu depois?
What happened next?
Bem, então ela me viu e me desafiou para um estranho jogo de croquet.
Well, then she saw me and challenged me to a strange game of croquet.
Você vai jogar, não vai, garotinha? Vamos andando, pessoal.
You will play; won’t you, little girl? Move along, everyone.
Está na hora do nosso jogo anual de croquet, no qual eu sou sempre a vencedora, é claro.
It’s time for our annual croquet game, where I’m always the winner, of course.
Como você se saiu com isso?
How did you make out with that?
Eu não me lembro de ter visto você jogar croquet em toda sua vida!
I don’t remember you ever playing croquet in your life!
Foi um desastre! Em primeiro lugar, as bolas eram porcos-espinho e os tacos eram flamingos!
It was a disaster! In the first place, the balls were actually hedgehogs and the mallets were flamingos!
E as balizas eram soldados cartas que ficavam se mexendo para todo lado.
And the wickets were card soldiers who kept moving all over the place.
E a rainha era tão chata e desagradável! Ela ficava constantemente mandando nas pessoas.
And the queen was so nasty! She was constantly ordering people around.
Eu notei que todos estavam sempre tentando agradá-la;
I could tell that everyone was always trying to make up to her;
Mas mesmo assim, sempre que as coisas não eram do jeito que ela queria, ela ordenava que cortassem suas cabeças!
But, even then, whenever she couldn’t have her own way, she would order their heads cut off!
Oh, Tammy! Isto foi um pesadelo!
Oh, Tammy! It was a nightmare!
E o rei? Como ele era?
How about the king? What was he like?
O pobre rei era homem pequeninho que ninguém respeitava.
The poor king was a tiny little guy that nobody respected.
Mas estava claro que ele não tinha autoridade.
But it was clear that he had no authority.
Ele deve ter entrado na família rica da rainha por casamento ou algo assim;
He must have married into the queen’s wealthy family or something;
Bem, resumindo… Depois de ver que toda aquela competição não passava de uma farsa, decidi (optar por) não participar.
Well, to wrap things up… After seeing that the whole competition was nothing but a scam, I decided to opt out of it.
E a rainha deixou?
And did the queen let you?
O que você acha?
What do you think?
Ela ordenou que cortassem minha cabeça, do mesmo jeito que ela tinha feito com todo mundo.
She ordered my head cut off, just like she had done with everybody else.
Oh, isto é terrível! O que você fez então? Você estava com medo?
Oh, that’s terrible! What did you do then? Were you scared?
Àquela altura eu decidi que eu estava farta desta experiência toda no “País das Maravilhas”.
At that point, I decided I’d had enough of this whole “Wonderland” experience.
Quando os “soldados” vieram atrás de mim, eu criei coragem e os empurrei para o chão com meus pés.
When the “soldiers” came after me, I mustered up the courage and pushed them down with my foot.
Eu comecei a fugir e todo mundo foi atrás de mim.
I started running away and everybody made after me.
Corri o mais rápido que minhas pernas conseguiram e, de algum modo, me encontrei de volta à porta onde tudo começou.
I ran as fast as my legs could carry me and, somehow, I found myself back at the door where everything had started.
Mas estava trancada.
But it was locked.
Olhei pelo buraco da fechadura e pude me ver dormindo debaixo da árvore onde eu estivera lendo “Alice no País das Maravilhas”.
I looked through the keyhole and could see myself sleeping under the tree where I had been reading “Alice in Wonderland”.
Enquanto a multidão de aproximava, eu gritei para mim mesma…
As the mob drew nearer, I called to myself…
“Tammy, acorde! Acorde!
“Tammy, wake up! Wake up!”
Finalmente acordei e percebi que tudo tinha sido um sonho no final das contas.
I finally woke up and found that it was just a dream after all.
Tudo estava de volta ao normal.
Everything was back to normal again.
Mas certamente pareceu bem real enquanto estava acontecendo.
But it sure felt real while it was happening.
Este é o fim da história? Ah! Ainda é cedo. Eu quero ouvir outra história.
Is that the end of the story? Aw! It’s still early. I want to hear another one.
Antes disto, porque a gente não pede uma pizza para comemorar nossa “festa de desaniversário”?
Before that, why don’t we order in a pizza to celebrate our “unbirthday party”?
Ouvi dizer que toda sexta-feira todos os tipos de pizza no “País das Maravilhas da Pizza de Alice” estão com desconto de 15%.
I heard that every Friday all varieties at “Alice’s Pizza Wonderland” are marked down by 15%.
Ótima ideia, Tim! Esta é a coisa mais sensata que ouvi a noite toda!
Great idea, Tim! That’s the most sensible thing I heard all evening!
OK, eu vou ligar para a pizzaria para nós.
Okay, I’ll call the pizza place for us.
Onde você anotou o número telefônico, Tammy?
Where did you note down the phone number, Tammy?
Está bem ali no caderno ao lado do telefone.
It’s right there in the notebook beside the phone.
I’m starved! Make sure to tell them not to be late for a very important date!
Estou faminto! Tenha certeza de dizer para eles não se atrasarem para um compromisso muito importante!
