Q

Explain how to apply sunscreen.

A

SPF 30 (UVB) 4* (UVA) to take into account that we don’t apply generously enough.

Apply sunscreens generously:
- It takes at least 6 full teaspoons (approx. 36g) to cover the body of an average adult, this is over half a teaspoon to each arm and face/neck (including ears) and over 1 teaspoon to each leg, front/back of body.

Apply sunscreen to all sun exposed areas.
Needs to be applied 20-30 minutes before sun exposure.
Reapply after walking or being in water; even water resistant sunscreen needs to be reapplied after being in water.
Sunscreen should be applied and allowed to absorb before application of insect repellants, moisturising and make-up.
Store sunscreen out of the head and check expiry date
