What are the indications of Apixaban? (3)

A

VTE Prevention in adult px who have undergone elective hip/knee replacement surgery.

Stroke/Systemic embolism prevention in adults with non-valvular AF (NVAF) with 1 or more risk factors e.g. prior stroke/TIA, are >- 75 yrs, HPT, Diabetes, Symptomatic HF (NYHA Class >= II).

DVT + PE prevention/Tx

A

Stroke/Systemic embolism in AF:
- reduce dose used in px with at least 2 of the characteristics:
- 80yrs and over
- 60kg or less
- Serum creatinine 133mcmol/L or over.
