Commony Rx Drugs - NSAIDs Flashcards

1
Q

What general Rx points for NSAIDs? (3)

A

Consider individual risk factors, hx of CV/GI illness prior to Rx NSAIDs.

Naproxen (1000mg daily or less) and low dose Ibuprofen (1200mg daily or less) = favourable thrombotic CV safety profiles.

The lowest effective dose is used for shortest duration necessary to control symptoms.

Person’s need for symptomatic relief and response to tx should be re-evaluated periodically.
