What is the indication of Allopurinol? (1)
A
Long term control of chronic gout.

When should Allopurinol be used as Gout tx? (1)
A
Started 2-3 weeks after the attack has settled.
Treatment continued indefinitely to prevent reoccurrence of hyperuricaemia.

What is the maintenance dose of Allopurinol? (1)
A
100-300mg daily

When would you consider reducing the dose of Allopurinol? (1)
A
Renal impairment

What s/e should px report if they are taking Allopurinol? (1)
A
Rashes - withdraw therapy, if rash mild re-introduce cautiously but discontinue immediately if reoccurs.
