take history and analyse with ABC :
- Antecedents - what happened in minutes before
- Behaviour - what did episode consist of?
- Consequences - what happened as result? eg what parent did and outcome of that
Tantrums - After history..? what medical factors could contribute?
examine child
global/language delay, hearing impairment and meds with bronchodilators/anticonvulsants
MGMT - before tantrum?
affection/attention before, distraction, avoid antecedents
MGMT - during tantrum?

ignore with no surrender
time out for + reinforcement (go away and return when quietens)
use naughty chair/sibling separation
hold firmly if acting dangerously
star chart to prevent future episodes
Aggressive behaviour - how to manage? what is 1-2-3 principle?

Conduct disorder - what is it? things they may do?
antisocial behaviour so severe it handicaps general functioning
steal, lie, disobey, light fires, destroy things and pick fights

homes of discord, with coercive r’ships and poor supervision/limited boundaries

parent mgmt training - minimal benefit if poor parental cooperation
