what is adenomyosis? most common when? ass w what? what happens after menopause?
endometriosis interna - endometrium and underlying stroma present within myometrium
~40yo
fibroids and endometriosis
Sx subside
path/aet - extent = ?
-what happens in severe cases?
the extent is variable
severe - pockets of menstrual blood in myometrium of hysterectomy specimens
Clinical features
Hx - Sx?
Ex - uterus?
Ix - not easily seen on ?? but seen on ??
Sx poss absent - painful reg heavy menstruation common
uterus mildly enlarged and tender
USS but seen on MRI
MGMT
- what may control dysmenorrhea and HMB?
- what often needed?
- some women have what? why?
prog IuS or COCP w/wo NSAIDs
often need hysterectomy
some have trial on GnRH analogues - to determine if hysterectomy will improve Sx
this condition is dependent on?
effects on fertility?
fertility effects unclear
oestrogen dependent
