Therapeutic effects and uses
It is used with people who have lost more than 20% of blood supply or have gone into hypovolemic shock, people with low fluid volume, burns, and respiratory distress.

Mechanism of action
Increase osmotic pressure of the blood and causes fluid to move from the tissues to the general circulation.
Adverse effects
Antibodies of the patient may cause an allergic reaction because of incompatibility. (Signs are fever, chills, urticaria(hives), dyspnea, and possibly hypotension). Don’t raise fluid volume too much= hypervolemia
Contraindications
Anemia, cardiac failure, or those allergic to albumin
Hypervolemia
Be careful for other cultures that will not take blood products (Jehovah’s Witnesses
